My Love of the Road Trip

I have a love affair with the road trip. My earliest memories and family lore include refusing to sleep until I was taken on a car ride. The car smell, the feel of the evening breeze through the open window, and the gentle swaying were heaven to me. That's the only way I would fall asleep!

Our family took many memorable road trips. My mom would convert the car's back seat to a bed, and my sister and I would pretend we were in a rolling hotel. I remember the delicious picnics, singing to the radio, and playing car games as my dad chauffeured the family, often including our dog. We stopped whenever we came across exciting roadside attractions. The ultimate fun for me was staying at a hotel. Usually, it was a Holiday Inn or Ramada Inn. I remember opening the hotel room door and running to one of the double beds to claim it before my sister beat me to it!

As an adult, the road trip has become my private sanctuary. I pray, plan adventures, listen to audiobooks, turn up the volume and sing along to my heart's content – and I still enjoy staying in cool hotels.

I'll share my road trip adventures and recommendations on what to do and where to eat. Please join me and experience, explore, and enjoy this wonderful way to travel!

Are you a fan of the road trip? What is it that draws you in? I'd love to hear your story. Let me know in the comments.
