10 Essential Tips for Staying Fit and Healthy as a Solo Female Traveler

Staying fit and healthy as a solo female traveler on the road is a non-negotiable for me. Being fit allows me to enjoy my travels now and, hopefully, long into the future! 


Below are my Top 10 stay-fit-while-traveling tips.  

 

  1. Embrace Intermittent Fasting I swear by intermittent fasting—fasting for 16 hours and eating within an 8-hour window. It keeps me energized and mindful of what I eat during my adventures.

  2. Savor Local Cuisine When I travel to foodie destinations, I indulge in one delicious meal a day – and truly enjoy that meal! It's the perfect way to experience local flavors without overdoing it.   

  3. Prioritize Fresh Produce I make sure to incorporate plenty of local fruits and veggies into my meals. They keep me feeling nourished and ready for whatever the journey brings.   

  4. Stay Active Anywhere My go-to travel companions? Fitness apps like FitOn and Muscle Buster. (I’m not paid to promote them) They help me squeeze in workouts right in my hotel room or at local gyms with day passes.   

  5. Moderate Alcohol Consumption Too much alcohol just makes me feel bad. I stick to moderation to keep my wits about me, especially when exploring solo.   

  6. Explore on Foot Walking is my favorite way to discover new places. It's good for staying active and soaking in the sights and sounds of a destination.   

  7. Establish Consistent Exercise Routine Whether I'm traveling or not, I make time for jogging, yoga or Orange Theory workouts. (I’m not paid to promote them either.) It's all about staying consistent, with one rest day to recharge.   

  8. Monitor Weight Regularly I check my weight daily to stay on track. If I notice a change, I adjust my routine to keep myself feeling my best.   

  9. Focus on Functional Fitness I prioritize functional exercises that keep me strong and ready for anything—climbing, hiking with a heavy pack or any overhead lifting!   

  10. Practice Self-Compassion We ALL have those days of overindulgence. Instead of beating myself up, I regroup and start the next day fresh.  

 

With these tips in mind, you can prioritize your health and wellness while embarking on incredible solo adventures. Remember to listen to your body, stay hydrated and EXPERIENCE, EXPLORE and ENJOY every moment of the journey ahead!
